Toronto, ON — Meridian, in a collaborative effort with the Durham Regional Police Service and Crime Stoppers, has announced an increase in the reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the armed robbery at its Kingston Road branch in December of 2022.
Background of the Incident:
On December 8, 2022, two male suspects, armed with handguns, executed a robbery at the Meridian branch on Kingston Road, Pickering. The suspects coerced employees into the vault and fled with a significant amount of cash. This incident has prompted a rigorous investigation by the Durham Regional Police Service, alongside efforts from Meridian to ensure the safety and well-being of its employees and Members.
Increased Reward for Information:
Meridian is deeply committed to the safety of its community and the resolution of this crime. In an effort to encourage public participation in this ongoing investigation, Meridian is increasing the Crime Stoppers reward offering from $30,000 to $50,000.
Security Enhancements:
The safety and security of its employees, Members, and communities is Meridian’s top priority. As a result, Meridian has implemented a series of enhanced security protocols that include a reduction to onsite cash holdings and advanced robbery prevention measures. Meridian continues to evaluate additional security enhancements, as appropriate.
