At Meridian, we're deeply committed to building strong neighbourhoods and we wish to acknowledge those young residents in Ontario who have made, and continue to make a difference in their community. To demonstrate our firm commitment, we're pleased to offer the Good Neighbour Scholarship Program.

Eligibility
Good Neighbour Scholarship recipients shall be determined by the Branch Manager at each of Meridian's 44 branches and 8 Commercial Business Centres.The program will provide each Meridian Branch and Commercial Business Centre with $500 (for a total of $25,500 in scholarships) to be awarded to a deserving student who demonstrates the qualities of a good neighbour based on the following criteria:
- Be a registered Grade 12 student at a secondary school in the neighbourhood where Meridian Credit Union has a branch location
- Be planning to attend a post-secondary institution in Ontario on a full-time basis within the year following graduation.
- Must have demonstrated excellent community spirit and leadership in service of other students, the school, community, and neighbourhood
- Must have demonstrated excellent community leadership in their community through volunteer and fundraising efforts to help make their neighbourhood strong, vibrant, and inclusive
- This award is not purely a proficiency award; however, applicants should have a satisfactory academic record (C average or higher)
- Provide a transcript of Grade 11, and projected Grade 12 marks
- Provide supporting letters of reference stating the time-span and hours of applicant's community service and school involvement

Who selects the Meridian Credit Union Good Neighbour Program award recipients?
Each MCU Branch Manager/ CBC Manager and their staff are responsible for choosing one Good Neighbour Scholarship recipient in their neighbourhood
Do I have to be planning to attend a University in order to be eligible for the scholarship?
No, you can be planning on attending a university, community college or a trade school - As long as it is a registered post secondary school institution in Ontario
Do I need to be a Member of Meridian Credit Union in order to apply?
No, however if you are a recipient of the MCU Good Neighbour Scholarship, you will be requested to open an account at your neighbourhood Meridian branch
If I am selected, when will I receive my scholarship?
If you are chosen to receive a Good Neighbour Scholarship, you will be notified on or before June 5, 2009. Your local MCU branch will make arrangements for you to receive your award at your graduation commencement exercises at your secondary school
