Meridian Credit Union kick started its 2010 United Way Employee Campaign today with
a corporate donation of $25,000, noted Meridian President and CEO, Sean Jackson.
"We feel this is a great start to our annual employee campaign," said Jackson. "As
always, enthusiasm for the campaign is high and employees are already looking forward
to continuing to give generously to our communities through various local branch
and corporate events through the month of October."
Last year, Meridian employees raised more than $185,000 for the United Way —
a goal we hope to surpass in 2010, noted Anne Brooks, this year's United Way Chair
"At Meridian, we believe we are vital to the success of the communities in which
we operate," said Brooks. "Through the United Way campaign, we're able to raise
money through a variety of fundraising activities and employee payroll deductions
that stay in our communities and helps make them better places to live and do business."
The donation was made through the Good Neighbour Program — Meridian's corporate
social responsibility program. Through the Good Neighbour Program, Meridian helps
to build strong, vibrant, inclusive communities by supporting local social, environmental
and economic initiatives.
