TORONTO — Meridian's award-winning Good Neighbour Program is being relaunched
to include an expanded number of activities as part of the credit union's commitment
to corporate social responsibility.
The Good Neighbour Program, which has sponsored more than 1,500 worthwhile organization
and events in Meridian communities since 2006, is one of Meridian's best-known community
initiatives, according to President and CEO Sean Jackson.
"In the past, the Good Neighbour Program has focused on sponsorships and funding.
As an organization, and as individual employees of Meridian, we do much more in
the community than sponsor events. We donate our time. We provide in-kind services.
We are a Top 100 employer. The list goes on. All of this is part of our commitment
to corporate social responsibility," Jackson said.
"The Good Neighbour Program is our corporate social responsibility program.
From now on everything we do economically, socially and environmentally to make
our communities strong, vibrant and inclusive will fall under the umbrella of our
Good Neighbour Program," Jackson said.
The program has been relaunched on Meridian's web site - meridiancu.ca - together
with stories and examples of what Meridian branch managers and employees are doing
in their communities.
"Like all credit unions, we are an organization founded on cooperative principles
and strongly believe that we have a corporate social responsibility to the communities
we serve. We will continue to live up to that commitment through our Good Neighbour
Program - our corporate social responsibility program," Jackson said.
