ST. CATHARINES — Toronto-based Sunnybrook Credit Union joined Meridian Credit
Union on August 1, 2010.
The merger will expand the range of financial planning and services available to
Sunnybrook's 1,200 Members and expand Meridian's presence in Toronto.
"This is a natural fit that will benefit all of our Members and be good for
the credit union movement in Ontario," said Jerry Andrijiw, Sunnybrook Credit
Union.
Sunnybrook Credit Union was established in 1950 by employees and veterans of the
Sunnybrook Veteran's Hospital in Toronto. It has $5 million in assets and one branch,
at the hospital, with four employees.
"We are delighted to welcome all of Sunnybrook's Members and employees to Meridian.
Both of our credit unions share the same cooperative values and the same commitment
to delivering superior personalized service to our Members," Sean Jackson,
President and CEO of Meridian Credit Union said.
