Toronto, ON- Donations to the Red Cross Haiti Disaster Relief Fund are now being accepted at Meridian Credit Union branches. Donations can be made to Account # 3874294.
"We are all shocked and saddened by the loss of life and devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti. We want to partner with our Members and the communities we serve to do whatever we can to help," Sean Jackson, President and CEO of Meridian Credit Union said.
In addition to opening an account for donations to the Red Cross, we are pleased to announce that we have made a one-time corporate donation of $5,000 to Rotary International supporting the Haitian Shelter Relief Fund and the Red Cross.
All individual contributions to the fund will be matched by the federal government, to a maximum total of $50 million across Canada, between January 12 and February 12.
Donations to the fund may also be tax deductible. Individuals requiring a tax receipt are asked to donate directly to the Red Cross through their web site, call centre or in person at a Red Cross location. There will also be a link to the Red Cross from Meridian’s web site, meridiancu.ca. Appropriate tax receipts will then be issued by the Red Cross, Sean Jackson said.
