Privacy and Security FAQs

What are my responsibilities regarding security?

As a Meridian Member you are given access to certain systems in order to conveniently conduct your financial transactions through our various alternate service delivery channels. This access includes Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) for ABMs and Personal Access Codes (PACs) for Online and Telephone Banking.

Your access numbers are not known or even made visible to Meridian. It is up to you to protect this information and prevent misuse. It is important to safeguard the personal or banking information you choose to hold, whether it’s account statements, unused cheques or PIN/PAC access codes.

How do I know Meridian’s systems are secure?

We safeguard the personal and financial information of our Members, employees and other individuals. We have established related policies and procedures. Our employees understand the importance of the policies and procedures and follow them carefully. Meridian has a designated Privacy Officer who is accountable for monitoring the collection and security of personal information.

Whether you choose to deal with Meridian online, over the telephone or in person, we follow rigorous security procedures to protect your information and transactions against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and misuse.

How do I know the information you have on file about me is safe and secure?

Our security policies are designed to prevent unauthorized access to your information. Only employees who require your personal information are authorized to access it and each employee must use a personal password to access the information they require. As well, our information technology department has strict procedures to protect your personal information, including Internet firewalls, virus monitoring and information.
