Meridian will be sponsoring a number of young Meridian Members to take part in various week-long programs throughout the summer of 2012!
These lucky young Meridian Members will have the opportunity to spend a week at one of the Ontario Co-operative Association's Cooperative Young Leaders (CYL) summer camp programs designed to bring your people ages 14–18 together from all across Ontario to learn about and practice communication and co-operative leadership through co-operative activities. This is just one of many benefits of being a Meridian Member.
CYL = Change Your Life
CYL camp program has all the things that make summer camp fun—hikes, campfires, swimming, volleyball. But CYL camp offers so much more! Campers will learn how to be a leader and a team player—how to co-operate, solve problems, and improve their survival skills. And unlike many other summer camps, campers have a say in what happens. As a group, the kids help decide on social activities, sports, and the rules and regulations of their stay.
The goals of the CYL program are to:
- Provide young people with a fantastic summer camp experience
- Develop leadership and communication skills and foster self-confidence
- Create a stronger awareness of co-ops and co-operative principles
Where is CYL Camp?
All CYL sessions will be held at the Lake St. George Field Centre, south of Richmond Hill.
How do Members apply?
Submit a short essay (minimum of 400 words) with your name and contact information, explaining your interest in attending the CYL camp program.
