Your Responsibility Regarding Privacy

Meridian is committed to keeping its systems and information secure, to ensure that our Members are well-informed about what we do and what they can do to remain safe.

It’s a responsibility we take seriously at Meridian. It’s also a responsibility that requires us to work together as partners with you, as we do in every other way for your banking needs. We need your help to make sure that the privacy and security protection we have in place is effective, day in and day out.

We protect your personal access information

As a Meridian Member you are given access to certain systems in order to conveniently conduct your financial transactions through our various alternate service delivery channels. This access includes Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) for ABMs and Personal Access Codes (PACs) or passwords for Online and Telephone Banking.

Your access numbers are not known or even made visible to Meridian. It is up to you to protect this information and prevent misuse. It is important to safeguard the personal or banking information you choose to hold, whether it’s account statements, unused cheques or PIN/PAC access codes.

Use Meridian online banking email to protect your personal account information

It is important that you understand the risk of sending email communications over the Internet. Typically, emails transmitted over the Internet do not have a secure (encrypted) format. We recommend that you do not send confidential information to us or anyone else by unencrypted email.

For your own safety, whenever you email Meridian, always use the Comment Section available through Online Banking, which provides for secure/encrypted transmissions of personal information.

We will never use email to communicate your financial matters

Phishing is a practice where fraudsters use electronic communication to pose as legitimate organizations in order to obtain sensitive account information. Rest assured, if a security concern or other important matter arises, we will never inform you by email.

We will also never request sensitive information from you by email. If you receive a communication of that type, please contact Meridian immediately for more information.

We have enhanced security to protect your financial information
