What do I need to bank digitally?

If you have a desktop computer, a laptop, or a mobile device like a smartphone or tablet, you can bank digitally. Once you have an ID and password, you can use your desktop or laptop computer to sign in to online banking, or your smartphone or tablet to sign in to mobile banking.

Debit cards and bank machines (ABMs)

If you want to use an ABM for a cash transaction, you’ll need a Meridian debit card. You can also use the ABM to deposit cheques; however, if you have a smartphone, you can deposit your cheque by taking a photo of it using the Meridian mobile app.

If you don’t have a debit card, there are two ways of getting one:

1. Call the Contact Centre at 1-866-592-2226 and speak to one of our representatives. This is what to expect:

a. We’ll send you a debit card in the mail

b. Shortly afterward, in a separate mailing, you’ll receive your temporary PIN

c. You can change your PIN to something permanent at any ABM

2. Visit a branch and we’ll give you a debit card and temporary PIN. You can update your PIN at the ABM immediately.

You can use your debit card at any Meridian branch ABM, or at any of our partner ABMs across Canada.
