Report fraud or suspicious activity
DO YOU SUSPECT YOU’RE A TARGET OF FRAUD?
If you suspect fraud, report it. We’re here to help.
If you believe that someone has gained access to your Meridian account information, online banking username and password, or stolen your debit our credit card, report it immediately.
Here are the steps you need to take.
1. Report the fraud incident to Meridian
Call 1-866-592-2226. When asked “How can I help you today?” say “Fraud” or “Scam” and you’ll be transferred directly to our fraud team.
2. Report the fraud incident to your local police
Go to the website of your local police service to find their non-emergency phone number. Some police services also have an option to file a fraud report online. Don’t call 9-1-1; fraud is a crime, but not a life-threatening emergency.
3. Report the fraud incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC)
The CAFC monitors fraud in Canada and abroad, using reports to find patterns and links, help investigations, and even create crime forecasting based on trends. They also help law enforcement, private and public organizations, universities, etc. to learn about crimes and create educational resources to help prevent cybercrime.
4. Report the fraud incident to the Credit Bureaus
To protect your credit scores from being negatively impacted by fraud, report the incident to both Equifax Canada and Transunion Canada.
