Toronto, ON – Meridian Credit Union today announced a new partnership with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), becoming the first credit union Affiliate Banking Partner of the organization. This partnership strengthens Meridian’s commitment to helping small businesses grow, thrive, and feel supported at every stage of their journey.

The CFIB is Canada’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advocating for independent businesses, representing more than 103,000 members nationwide, including approximately 40,000 in Ontario. Through this new relationship, Meridian is one of the credit union banking solutions for small businesses seeking personalized advice, competitive products, and a relationship-based approach to banking.

“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the heart of our communities,” said Kevin VanKampen, Senior Vice President, Business Banking, Meridian Credit Union. “This partnership with CFIB brings together two like-minded organizations that believe small business owners deserve accessible advisors, tailored solutions, and a financial partner who truly understands their needs. We’re proud to be CFIB’s first credit union Affiliate Banking Partner and look forward to supporting their members across Ontario.”

As part of the partnership, Meridian has developed a custom banking offer exclusively for CFIB members that includes no-fee daily banking for the first year, ongoing savings on business account service fees, and access to seamless digital tools. CFIB members and their employees also receive personal banking perks, including no-fee chequing, no annual fee on select personal Visa cards for the first year, and tailored financial advice designed to support both business and personal financial goals.

“CFIB members consistently tell us they value financial partners who understand the realities of running an independent business,” said CFIB executive vice-president of advocacy Corinne Pohlmann. “By partnering with Meridian Credit Union, we’re expanding access to relationship-based banking solutions that put small business owners first and help them succeed in a competitive environment.”
