Meridian Newcomer Referral Promotion

Meridian Credit Union Limited (“Meridian”) welcomes and supports newcomers to Canada through the Newcomer to Canada program (“NTC Program”). Meridian’s Newcomer Referral Promotion is an incentive to enroll new Members under the NTC Program (the “Promotion”). The Promotion is available from April 15, 2024 until December 31, 2024 (the “Offer Period”).  The Promotion is available to Meridian Members currently enrolled under the NTC Program or Members who have completed the NTC Program (collectively “NTC Members”).

A $100 cash bonus (“Cash Referral Bonus”) can be earned by each NTC Member who refers a prospective Member to Meridian who then enrolls in the NTC Program, and by the referred prospective Member when both meet the eligibility criteria described below.  The following terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”) apply to the Promotion.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The following eligibility criteria must be satisfied by both the NTC Member and the referred prospective Member:


NTC Member

1. Must have a Meridian chequing account.

2. Must complete all of the information requested in the Promotion digital voucher.

3. The Promotion digital voucher requires the following information from the NTC Member: first name, last name, email, phone number and Member number (hereinafter, the completed Promotion digital voucher is called the “Digital Referral Voucher”).

4. The NTC Member gives the Digital Referral Voucher to an eligible prospective Member (the “Referred Friend”).

The person who meets the above eligibility criteria is called the “Referring Member”.


Referred Friend

1. Referred Friends must:

  • Reside in Canada, and
  • Be the age of majority in the province in which they reside, and
  • Open a chequing account under the NTC Program; and
  • Have been in Canada for less than five years; and
  • Be in receipt of a Digital Referral Voucher given to them by an NTC Member; and 
  • Visit a Meridian branch with the Digital Referral Voucher before or on December 31st, 2024. 
  • Under the Promotion, enrollment in the NTC Program and opening of accounts must be conducted in person with a Meridian employee at any Meridian branch.


LIMITATIONS

1. NTC Members can receive the Cash Referral Bonus for each Referred Friend who enrolls into the NTC program and satisfies all of the Terms and Conditions up to a maximum of ten (10) Referred Friends and therefore a maximum of $1000.00 in Cash Referral Bonuses.

2. Redemption by a Referred Friend is limited to one per person and may not be combined with any other cash incentive offer.

3. Except as may be set out in these Terms and Conditions, all terms and conditions applicable to products and services held with Meridian are not amended by these Terms and Conditions and continue to apply during and after the Promotion.

4. This is a limited time offer. The Terms and Conditions of the Promotion, including the overall availability of the Promotion, are subject to the absolute discretion of Meridian and may be changed at any time by Meridian without further notice. Meridian reserves the right to amend, withdraw or terminate this Promotion at any time, without further notice. If Meridian amends the Terms and Conditions, Meridian will make available the updated Terms and Conditions in branch.


CASH REFERRAL BONUS PAYOUT

1. The Cash Referral Bonus is awarded to the Referring Member and the Referred Friend on the following conditions:

  • When the Referred Friend satisfies the eligibility criteria.
  • When the Referred Friend
    • enrolls in the NTC Program,
    • opens a Meridian chequing account, and
    • makes a deposit of at least $100 into his or her Meridian chequing account in good standing (“Qualifying Deposit”)

2. On the day the Referred Friend makes the Qualifying Deposit (“Deposit Date”), Meridian will deposit the Cash Referral Bonus into Referring Member’s chequing account in good standing and the Referred Friend’s chequing account in good standing.  Meridian will place a hold on the Cash Referral Bonus in both chequing accounts for sixty (60) days from the Deposit Date.  After sixty (60) days, Meridian will remove the hold and the Cash Referral Bonus will be available in the Referring Member’s chequing account and the Referred Friend’s chequing account.

3. The Referring Member and the Referred Friend must accept the Cash Referral Bonus payments in the form that it is awarded and must be Members of Meridian with a Meridian chequing account at the time the Cash Referral Bonus is paid; no substitutes are permitted.
