Co-operative Young Leaders Program

Meridian will be sponsoring up to eight teens (aged 14-18) to take part in the
Co-operative Young Leaders program during the summer of 2018!

These eight lucky youths will have the opportunity to spend a week at the Ontario Co-operative Association's Cooperative Young Leader (CYL) summer program designed to bring young people ages 14–18 together from all across Ontario to practice co-operative leadership through inspiring and fun activities!

Don't miss your chance to learn, develop your skills, and have fun - apply by June 6, 2018!

CYL will change your life

The CYL  program has all the things that make summer camp fun—hikes, campfires, swimming, volleyball. But CYL offers so much more! You will learn how to be a leader and a team player—how to co-operate, solve problems, and improve your survival skills. And unlike many other summer programs, you have a say in what happens. As a group, you and your fellow participants help decide on social activities, sports, and the rules and regulations of your stay.

The goals of the CYL program are to:

  • Provide young people with a fantastic summer experience
  • Develop leadership and communication skills and foster self-confidence
  • Create a stronger awareness of co-ops and co-operative principles

For more details on the CYL program, please visit the Ontario Co-operative Association's CYL webpage

Where does the CYL program take place?

The program takes place at The Co-operative Education Centre in Aylmer, ON and runs for either 6 or 7 days (depending on your program).

How do you apply?

In 250 words or less, tell us how YOU co-operate. We want to see how you’ve made an impact using collaboration- whether through a sports team, volunteering with a community group or on a successful school project.

Please submit applications by email (along with your name, age, address, and phone number) to community@meridiancu.ca
