Meridian appoints Chief Financial Officer

Toronto (April 30, 2018) – Meridian, Ontario’s largest credit union, and the third largest in Canada, is pleased to announce the appointment of Tara Daniel as Chief Financial Officer. 
 
“Tara’s expertise in finance and her leadership experience are proven assets for Meridian,” said Bill Maurin, President and CEO of Meridian.  “Her commitment to achieving optimal business results, coupled with her positive collaborative and empowering leadership style will provide valuable guidance and insight as Meridian continues upward on its growth trajectory. She’s a great example of the exceptional caliber of Meridian’s talent pool.”
 
Tara started with Meridian in 2003 in the role of Assistant Controller and has held a number of progressive dynamic and challenging leadership roles across the broad spectrum of the Finance team. Since 2016, Tara has served as Vice President of Treasury for Meridian, leading a team responsible for interest rate risk management, derivative portfolio management, liquidity risk management, funding, investment portfolio management, foreign exchange risk management, capital planning, and Treasury operations. In 2017, Tara concurrently assumed the Chief Financial Officer role of Meridian’s digital bank with a focus on shepherding the application process with the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions.
 
Previous to Meridian Credit Union, Tara held positions with St. Catharines Hydro and KPMG LLP.
