How to make a referral and get your bonus
1. Sign in to your account

2. Find your ‘Refer a Friend’ code
If you're using the Meridian mobile app, select the gear icon in the top left once you’ve signed in. This takes you to the Settings menu. Then, tap “Refer a Friend” from the Settings menu to view your unique referral code. If you’re using online banking, click “Refer a Friend” under Quick Links on the right hand side of our online banking page.
3. Share with family and friends
Send your referral code to others via text, email, or direct message. When someone enters your unique referral code, opens a Meridian chequing account and meets the offer criteria, you’ll both receive a cash bonus as a thank-you. Send them a link to this page too so they can learn more about our offer and the Meridian difference.

1. Open an account
Choose a chequing package from the great options below and open your account online in just a few steps.
2. Enter your friend’s referral code
When opening your new chequing account, don’t forget to enter the referral code that your friend shared with you.
3. Deposit $50
Deposit $50 in your new account and maintain that balance for at least three months.
4. Get your bonus
Receive your $50 bonus within 2 months of meeting the eligibility requirements*. Plus, the friend who referred you gets a thank-you bonus!

If you already have a Meridian chequing account, that means you also hold a $1 Meridian Member Share Account, which makes you ineligible for the $50 welcome bonus. However, you can refer friends and family to Meridian and earn a referral reward. For every person who enters your unique referral code, opens a chequing account, and fulfils the eligibility requirements, you get a $100 referral reward.
If you have other Meridian products that means you also hold a $1 Meridian Member Share Account, which makes you ineligible for the $50 welcome bonus. However, you can refer friends and family to Meridian and earn a referral reward. For every person who enters your unique referral code, opens a chequing account, and fulfils the eligibility requirements, you get a $100 referral reward.
A Meridian Share Account is an account where the Member holds at least one Membership share (each valued at $1). This is required to access Meridian products and services. It’s automatically opened for you during the account opening process.
Yes – as long as your Membership was inactive as of December 31, 2024, you’re eligible. You must not currently hold a $1 Meridian Member Share Account.
- Open a $1 Member Share Account online.
- Enter your friend’s unique referral code when you open a qualifying chequing account online.
- Deposit at least $50 into your new chequing account within 30 days.
- Maintain a $50 balance for at least three months.
- New Members will receive their $50 Welcome Bonus within two months of meeting all eligibility requirements. Example: If you open your account on September 24, 2025, deposit $50 on the same day, and keep that $50 in your account for 3 months, then your bonus will be deposited by January 31, 2026.
- Referring Members can expect their $100 Share the Difference Reward to be deposited after their referred friends have met all eligibility requirements – typically within the same timeframe as the new Member’s payout. View the full payout schedule in the Terms and Conditions.

Yes. We need your friend’s unique referral code to verify their Membership and issue their bonus. If the referral code is missing, neither of you will receive your bonus.
No. Only new Members who are referred and open their account during the offer period are eligible.
