Improving Financial Literacy

We work with our Members at all stages of life to help them to better manage their money and grow their lives. Financial literacy is essential to achieve financial goals. This is why we work with our community partners to create and share tools that will help all Ontarians to understand and use financial literacy skills. These include education to support Ontarians in saving for their children’s education, launching a business and better managing their finances. By sharing our knowledge, expertise and passion, we aim to help lives and local businesses grow across Ontario.

SmartSAVER.org: Meridian is one of the founding partners of SmartSAVER.org – a website to help Canadian families to learn about and open RESPs by applying for the Canada Learning Bond which can provide each child up to $2,000 in education savings. Over 500,000 children in Ontario alone qualify for the Canada Learning Bond but have not applied yet. We’re working to change that so that more children can get access to post-secondary education. To learn more and apply for your RESP, visit SmartSAVER.org.

Futurpreneur Canada: Meridian is proud to partner with Futurpreneur Canada – a national not-for-profit organization that supports entrepreneurs aged 18-39 with mentorship, resources, and up to $45k in loans available from Futurpreneur and the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC).

Owners WantedDo you have a great idea for a new business but don’t know where to start? There are thousands of people just like you. This is why Futurpreneur Canada and Meridian are hosting our popular Owners Wanted event series in coffee shops across Ontario. These events are designed to open doors for aspiring business owners who have a vision, but just aren’t sure how to get started.

When you sign up for an Owners Wanted event, you can expect to meet with a small group of aspiring entrepreneurs in a cozy coffee shop – the new boardroom. An expert from Futurpreneur will guide the discussion and help you get the most out of the experience. Get feedback on your business ideas, ask your burning questions and learn about the tools and resources available to help you launch a business. To learn more and get involved, visit Futurepreneur.
