Nomination and Election Process
The Nominating Committee (the “Committee”) operates independently of the Board of Directors and is responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of Meridian’s nomination and election process. All applications are reviewed, with only those meeting eligibility, attributes, and Board Selection Criteria advancing as Qualified Candidates. Annually, the Board approves the Board Selection Criteria to support the identification of candidates who possess the appropriate skills, experience, and leadership required to provide effective oversight of Meridian Credit Union.
An external search firm assists in evaluating applicants, conducting interviews, and providing anonymized assessments of applicants, from which the Committee evaluates and then selects a shortlist of candidates for further interviews. Following interviews, the Committee recommends candidates equal to the number of Board vacancies, assuring Members that these Recommended Nominees best positioned to meet the Board’s current needs. Applicants not interviewed or recommended may still request placement on the election ballot as Non-Recommended Nominees, in accordance with Meridian’s by-laws and policies.
For more information on the complete process, view the 2026 Director Candidate Election Brochure.
What does it mean to be a “Recommended Nominee” versus a “Non-Recommended Nominee”?
All individuals listed on the ballot are Qualified Candidates and meet Meridian’s Director eligibility requirements.
Recommended Nominees are those candidates the Nominating Committee has identified as the best qualified to fill the available Board vacancies based on the Board’s current skills and experience needs.
Non-Recommended Nominees are qualified candidates who have chosen to stand for election but are not recommended by the Nominating Committee.
Who may vote?
Each Member who holds $1.00 in Meridian Membership Shares on or before March 9, 2026 (other than a Member under the age of 18 years) is eligible to vote. For more information, view the 2026 Director Candidate Election Brochure.
