Personal Chequing Account Promotion Terms & Conditions

Meridian Credit Union Limited (“Meridian”) is offering a $100 cash bonus (“Cash Bonus”) to select Small Business Members who open a new Meridian personal chequing account and meet the eligibility criteria and terms and conditions outlined below (the “Promotion”). The following terms and conditions apply to the Promotion (“Terms and Conditions”). 

Eligibility Criteria  

All of the following criteria must be satisfied by the Member to qualify for the Promotion. The Member must: 

  • Open a new personal chequing account during the Promotion.1
    • A Chequing Account includes any of the following packages: Senior Everyday Chequing Package, Senior Unlimited Chequing Package, Essential Chequing Package, Everyday Chequing Package, Digital Chequing Package, Unlimited Chequing Package, and/or Student Chequing Package (“Chequing Account”).
  • Maintain a balance of at least $50 (fifty dollars CAD) in the Chequing Account, following the deduction of all applicable account fees, until the Validation Date as specified in payout schedule noted below. 

General Terms 

  1. These Terms and Conditions do not amend all terms and conditions applicable to products and services held with Meridian which continue to apply during and after the Promotion. 
  2. Meridian reserves the right to change, withdraw, or terminate the Promotion and the Terms and Conditions at any time without notice at Meridian's sole discretion. Changes to the Terms and Conditions, if they are made, will be available in-branch, on the Meridian website, or by email. 
  3. The Promotion is only available to select Members who receive a direct communication via email and/or splash page in online banking from Meridian and may not be shared or transferred by you to another party. 
  4. Member must not currently hold a personal Chequing Account.
  5. Redemption of the Cash Bonus by a Member who applied for the Promotion is limited to one per person and may not be combined with any other cash incentive offer. 
  6. By participating in this Promotion, all participants agree to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and these Terms and Conditions. Any attempt to manipulate or exploit the Promotion will result in disqualification. 
  7. Meridian is not liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with the Promotion, including but not limited to direct, indirect, or consequential losses. 
  8. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to this Promotion, including any question regarding its existence, interpretation, validity, breach, or termination, shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Toronto, Ontario. By participating in this Promotion the member irrevocably submits to the jurisdiction of such courts and waives any objection to the venue or jurisdiction of such courts.  
  9. This Promotion does not constitute financial or legal advice or an opinion related to the acquisition, suitability or use of any of the personal Chequing account. 


CASH BONUS PAYOUT 

  1. After the Member meets all the eligibility and complies with the Terms and Conditions, Meridian will deposit the Cash Bonus as per the payout schedule outlined below, into the Member’s Chequing Account.  If the personal Chequing Account is not in good standing, the Cash Bonus will not be paid out. Determination of eligibility and compliance with the Terms and Conditions is at Meridian’s sole discretion. 
  2. The Member must accept the Cash Bonus in the form that it is awarded and must be a Member of Meridian with a personal Chequing Account at the time the Cash Bonus is paid; no substitutes are permitted. 


PAYOUT SCHEDULE 

For accounts opened within a given month, the balance will be validated four months later (the Validation Date), and the Cash Bonus will be paid out one month after the Validation Date.
