The Advice That Helped Lizzy Take Flight

[Elizabeth “Lizzy McFly” Murphy stands in an airplane hanger in front of a small orange plane. She is a white woman with blonde hair and she’s wearing jeans, an orange T-shirt and a grey sweatshirt. She puts on her her aviator sunglasses, smiles, crosses her arms confidently, and her voiceover narration begins.]

Elizabeth: The advice my Meridian advisor gave me changed my life because she told me to spend money on myself.

[Elizabeth enters an office and opens up a laptop. She smiles while typing.]

I always knew I wanted to be a police officer. So I knew I had to go to university, but I thought what else would help me would be joining the Army.

[There’s a photo of a military ceremony where Elizabeth is holding a medal and a close-up on the medal. Then, military uniforms and a Certificate of Service for Corporal E.A. Murphy.]

So after I graduated university, I did the police test and, unfortunately, the shuttle run, that's where my legs just completely seized up and gave out.

[An MRI image of a brain.]

After doing a bunch of tests, CAT scans, MRI’s, spinal taps, and they're like, yep, you have multiple sclerosis.

[Elizabeth walks into a Meridian branch.]

I was medically released from the Army after serving for a little over ten years, got about $8,500. And my financial advisor, who knew that's all I did was invest and save, she goes, “So what are you going to spend it on?” I left like just in shock and awe. I didn't know what to do.

[Elizabeth driving in her car, on a highway and then past large green fields.]

And we saw a plane fly rather low over the highway while we were driving around. And that was just when I said, I'm going to get my pilot's license!

[On a runway, Elizabeth’s orange plane takes off. From inside the plane, we see green fields and farm buildings below before going higher. The plane starts to roll and flip in midair. Elizabeth is at the controls, flying the plane.]

Just being able to go up there and flip upside down and do loops and rolls, it is, it's literally such a rush.

[The plane continues maneuvering through the sky, going over land and lakes and even Niagara Falls.

It's meant everything. It's completely changed my life.

[Back on the runway, Elizabeth hugs the nose of her plane. Then she’s reaching inside the plane to set up a sun shield that makes the plane look like it has eyes.]

And my plane’s adorable.

Every financial advisor I've had so far actually cares. It just put a new perspective on things that it's not all just about saving and investing. You do still have to live your life.

[Elizabeth is flying her plane high above the ground, grinning.]

She wanted me to be truly happy.

[Elizabeth stands in the hanger in front of her plan, smiling. Words appear: “The Meridianaires.”]

My name's Elizabeth and I'm a Meridianaire.
