Meridian Spring 2026 New Chequing Account Offer - Terms and Conditions

THE OFFER 

The Meridian Credit Union Limited (“Meridian”) New Chequing Account Offer is available for a limited time to all prospective Members who do not have a Meridian Membership share and sign up for a $1 Meridian Membership share (“Membership Share”), open an eligible chequing account, and become a Meridian Member (“New Member”). A $500 cash bonus (“Cash Bonus”) can be earned by each New Member who opens a new eligible chequing account and meets the eligibility criteria outlined below (the “Offer”). This Offer is available from April 1, 2026, and will continue until withdrawn or terminated by Meridian, in its sole discretion, without prior notice (the “Offer Period”).

The following terms and conditions apply to the Offer (“Offer Terms and Conditions”). 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA OF THE OFFER 

To qualify for the Offer, a New Member must meet the following criteria (“Offer Eligibility Criteria”):  

1. Reside in Ontario, Canada. 

2. Be 18 years of age, or older, at the time of participation. 

3. Have not held a Membership Share as of April 30, 2026.

4. Purchase a Membership Share during the Offer Period. 

5. Open an eligible chequing account online or in branch, in any of the following packages: Senior Everyday Chequing Package, Senior Unlimited Chequing Package, , Everyday Chequing Package, Digital Chequing Package, Unlimited Chequing Package, and Student Chequing Package (“Eligible Chequing Account”). 

6. Qualify for an Eligible Chequing Account through Meridian’s standard process which includes a qualification process that requires a credit check. 

7. Fund the Eligible Chequing Account with a minimum of $50 (fifty dollars CAD) within 45 days of opening the Eligible Chequing Account (the “Deposit”). 

8. In addition to funding the Eligible Chequing Account with the Deposit, within the first 45 days of opening the Eligible Chequing Account, complete at least one (1) of the following: 

a. Set up a recurring monthly direct deposit to your Eligible Chequing Account of at least $300 per deposit, each month, and maintain this for a minimum of seven (7) consecutive months (“Qualifying Direct Deposits”). Qualifying Direct Deposits includes deposits from the following: payroll; pension direct deposits; Canada pension plan; old age security; disability payments, and governmental deposits such as employment insurance; Canada child benefit, Ontario trillium benefit; and veteran disability pension.

b. For individuals who do not receive Qualifying Direct Deposits, establish two recurring monthly pre-authorized debit bill payments on your Eligible Chequing Account of at least $100 per payment each month ("Qualifying Bill Payments"), and maintain both Qualifying Bill Payments for a minimum of seven (7) consecutive months. Qualifying Bill Payments are restricted to the following types of payments: car payments, mortgage payments, phone bill payments, utility bill payments and insurance payments.

Qualifying Direct Deposits is considered a “Qualifying Transaction”.  Qualifying Bill Payments are also considered a “Qualifying Transaction”. Meridian reserves the right to determine what is considered a Qualifying Transaction. See payout schedule for dates of the Cash Bonus. 

CASH BONUS PAYOUT 

1. After the New Member meets all the Offer Eligibility Criteria and complies with the Offer Terms and Conditions, Meridian will deposit the Cash Bonus as per the payout schedule outlined below, into the New Member’s Eligible Chequing Account. If the Eligible Chequing Account is not in good standing, the Cash Bonus will not be paid out. Determination of fulfillment of the Offer Eligibility Criteria and compliance with the Offer Terms and Conditions is at Meridian’s sole discretion. 

2. The New Member must accept the Cash Bonus in the form that it is awarded and must be a Meridian Member with an Eligible Chequing Account at the time the Cash Bonus is paid; no substitutes or exceptions are permitted. 

PAYOUT SCHEDULE 

Cash Bonuses will be paid by Meridian on the last day of the month or the following business day if the last day of the month falls on a weekend.

GENERAL TERMS 

Cannot be combined with any other offer.

1. The standard monthly package fee for the Eligible Chequing Account will be charged in accordance with the applicable Meridian rates and fees for personal accounts. 

2. Except as may be set out in the Terms and Conditions of this Offer, all terms and conditions applicable to products and services held by you with Meridian are not amended by the Terms and Conditions of this Offer and continue to apply during and after this Offer. This is a limited time Offer. The Terms and Conditions of this Offer, including the overall availability of the Offer, are subject to the absolute discretion of Meridian. Meridian reserves the right, at any time and without prior notice, to amend, suspend, replace, or terminate the Promotion or any of these Terms and Conditions, in whole or in part, for any reason.

3. If Meridian amends the Terms and Conditions of this Offer, Meridian will make available the updated Terms and Conditions in branch and on the Meridian website.  

4. Redemption of the Cash Bonus by a New Member who is eligible for the Offer is limited to one (1) per person. 

5. By participating in this Offer, all participants agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations and these Terms and Conditions. Any attempt to manipulate or exploit this Offer will result in disqualification. 

6. By participating in the Promotion, participants agree to release, discharge, and hold harmless Meridian and its directors, officers, agents, representatives, affiliates, successors, and assigns from any claims arising out of or in connection with the Promotion. Participants further agree to indemnify and hold harmless Meridian against any such claims. This provision survives the end of the Promotion.

7. Personal information collected in connection with the Promotion will be used and disclosed in accordance with Meridian’s privacy practices and applicable law.

8. Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to this Offer, including any question regarding its existence, interpretation, validity, breach, or termination, shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Toronto, Ontario. By participating in this Promotion, a participant irrevocably submits to the jurisdiction of such courts and waives any objection to the venue or jurisdiction of such courts.

9. Meridian is not responsible for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with the Promotion, including direct, indirect, or consequential losses, technical issues, or delays beyond Meridian’s reasonable control.
