August 20, 2020 - CERB available until October 3

The federal government has extended the Canada Emergency Response Benefit to 28 weeks to continue supporting people who have lost their jobs or part of their income due to the pandemic. Learn more about CERB.


July 9, 2020 - Face masks required in all branches

Protect yourself and others. Members and staff are now required to wear a mask in all branches. We’re always happy when you visit, so please wear your mask to help us keep everyone safe.

    If you discover that you no longer meet the eligibility requirements for CERB, or you have applied multiple times in the same period, you need to return the payment. For details on how to repay it visit the CRA website.

    April 13, 2020 - Credit Card support

    We’re offering new support for credit card holders: you can defer a minimum monthly credit card payment; use contactless payments for up to $250; and Canadians abroad can get increased limits to help manage expenses. Questions about credit cards?

    April 6, 2020 - Request to skip a mortgage payment online

    You can now place a skip-a-payment request through online banking. Sign in, and from the ‘Select an Action’ menu for your mortgage, choose “Skip a payment”. This feature is not available within our Mobile App. Questions about mortgage and loan payments?

    April 6, 2020 - Deposit CRA benefits, credits, and refunds online

    Get your money faster by depositing Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) payments online instead of waiting for a cheque or going through Service Canada. Just sign in to online banking, and from the Account Summary screen, select the link that says "CRA Direct Deposit". Alternatively, you can find the option under 'Settings’ or via the "Set up a Direct Deposit" option located in the "Select an Action" menu from any Chequing or Savings account.     March 23, 2020 - Some branches temporarily closed, phone lines open

    We are temporarily closing some of our branches to help our employees and Members stay healthy. Most branches are still taking phone calls and some are seeing Members by appointment only. Check on the status of your local branch.

    We are confident that through other branches, our Contact Centre, online banking, and our mobile app, we can continue to deliver the exceptional service Meridian is known for.

Your local branch

In the interest of everyone’s safety, wear a face mask when visiting branches where by-laws are in effect. Also, we have reduced some branch hours and closed some branches temporarily. If your branch is listed as “closed,” please try calling the branch directly, as someone may be able to help over the phone. Please note that some branches are seeing Members by appointment only or by advice only, so it’s best to call ahead.

Protect yourself from fraud

The risk of frauds and scams is ever-present and fraudsters always take advantage of any opportunity, particularly when people are in a vulnerable state, like now. We have become aware of a number of new fraudulent schemes seeking to exploit the COVID-19 pandemic, including fraudulent websites asking for donations to support those impacted by the virus. Always verify a charity through a reputable source and conduct your own due diligence to make sure they are legitimate before you make a donation.

You can help protect yourself by being continuously mindful of phishing scams, protecting and limiting the sharing of your personal information, and taking protective measures such as having an up-to-date operating system and anti-malware software.
