$500 Chequing Account Promotion
Terms and Conditions

Meridian Credit Union Limited (“Meridian”) is offering a $500 cash bonus (“Cash Bonus”) to select Members who open a new Meridian chequing account and meet the eligibility criteria and terms and conditions outlined below (the “Promotion”). The Promotion is valid starting October 19, 2026, and until December 31, 2026 (the “Promotion Period”).  Meridian reserves the right at its absolute discretion to withdraw this Promotion in whole or in part, or to vary, delete or add to any of these terms and conditions at any time and from time to time without notice.  The following terms and conditions apply to the Promotion (“Terms and Conditions”).

Eligibility Criteria

All of the following criteria must be satisfied by the Member to qualify for the Promotion. The Member must:

•    Open an eligible Meridian chequing account during the Promotion.¹

      o     a Meridian chequing account includes any of the following packages: Senior Everyday Chequing Package, Senior Unlimited Chequing Package, Everyday Chequing Package, Digital Chequing Package, Unlimited Chequing Package, or Student Chequing Package (“Eligible Account”); and

•    Maintain a balance of at least $50 (fifty dollars) CAD in the Eligible Account, following the deduction of all applicable account fees, until the Validation Date as specified in payout schedule noted below; and

•    The Promotion is only available to select Members who receive a direct communication via email and/or splash page in online banking from Meridian and may not be shared or transferred by you to another party.

 Cash Bonus Payout

1.    After the Member meets all the eligibility criteria and complies with the Terms and Conditions, Meridian will deposit the Cash Bonus as per the payout schedule outlined below, into the Member’s Eligible Account.  If the Eligible Account is not in good standing, the Cash Bonus will not be paid out. Determination of eligibility and compliance with the Terms and Conditions is at Meridian’s sole discretion.

2.    The Member must accept the Cash Bonus in the form that it is awarded and must be a Member of Meridian with an Eligible Account at the time the Cash Bonus is paid; no substitutes are permitted.

Payout Schedule

For Eligible Accounts opened within a given month, the balance will be validated four months later (the “Validation Date”), and the Cash Bonus will be paid out one month after the Validation Date. 

General Terms

1.    These Terms and Conditions do not amend all terms and conditions applicable to products and services held with Meridian which continue to apply during and after the Promotion.

2.    Meridian reserves the right to change, withdraw, or terminate the Promotion and the Terms and Conditions at any time without notice at Meridian's sole discretion. Changes to the Terms and Conditions, if they are made, will be available in-branch, on the Meridian website, or by email.

3.     A Member is not eligible for the Promotion if the Member: (a) holds an Eligible Account as of October 19, 2026; or (b) closes an existing Eligible Account and opens a new Eligible Account between October 19, 2026 and December 31, 2026, inclusive. 

4.    Redemption of the Cash Bonus by a Member who applied for the Promotion is limited to one per person and may not be combined with any other cash incentive offer.

5.    By participating in this Promotion, all participants agree to comply with all applicable laws, regulations and these Terms and Conditions. Any attempt to manipulate or exploit the Promotion will result in disqualification.

6.    Meridian is not liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with the Promotion, including but not limited to direct, indirect, or consequential losses.

7.    Any dispute, controversy, or claim arising out of or relating to this Promotion, including any question regarding its existence, interpretation, validity, breach, or termination, shall be governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Toronto, Ontario. By participating in the Promotion, the member irrevocably submits to the jurisdiction of such courts and waives any objection to the venue or jurisdiction of such courts.

8.    In consideration of this Promotion provided by Meridian, the Member agrees through their participation in this Promotion, to irrevocably and unconditionally release, discharge and forever hold harmless Meridian, its directors, officers, employees, agents, representatives, affiliates, successors and assigns (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, suits, debts, dues, accounts, bonds, covenants, contracts, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, expenses, and compensation of any kind whatsoever (collectively “Claims”), whether known or unknown, which the Member, or any person claiming through or on behalf of the Member, now has, or may hereafter have, arising out of or in connection with this Promotion or any associated transaction, service, or product provided by Meridian. 

9.    By participating in this Promotion, the Member agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all Claims, including legal fees and expenses on a full indemnity basis, that may be brought against or incurred by any of the Released Parties as a result of or in connection with this Promotion, any actions or omissions of the Member, or any breach by the Member of the terms and conditions governing this Offer. This indemnity shall survive the termination, completion or expiry of the Promotion between Member and Meridian.

10.    This Promotion does not constitute financial or legal advice or an opinion related to the acquisition, suitability or use of any of the Eligible Accounts.

11.    If Meridian is unable to run this Promotion as planned for any reason, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the reasonable control of Meridian which corrupt or affect the administration, security or proper conduct of this Promotion, Meridian reserves the right at its sole discretion to, without advance notice, terminate or suspend the Promotion, in whole or in part, or modify it in any way.  

12.    Participation in this Promotion is your acknowledgment that you have read these terms and conditions, and you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. 

13.    To the extent that the terms and conditions are inconsistent with any other communication, advertisement, or statement (a “Message”) from Meridian, these terms and conditions will supersede all other Messages.

14.    Employees, officers, directors, contractors, agents, and representatives of Meridian, its affiliates, and subsidiaries are not eligible to participate in this Promotion.
